Music and After School Activities

Collingham Band Annual Melody Contest
Friday 2nd March at 5.30pm in school

The Melody Contest will be held on Friday 2nd March at 5.30pm in
Collingham School. The Novice Class is open to any wind or brass player of up to and including Grade 3 standard who is not a member of Collingham Band. The Intermediate, Advanced and Ensemble classes are restricted to entry by Band members.

The Melody Contest enables each player to perform a piece of their own choice in the encouraging and relaxed surroundings of a friendly audience. Trophies and Certificates are given to each class. For some players this will be their first experience of playing to an audience and discovering the fun of music making which makes the hard work of learning an instrument worthwhile.

A good audience makes a good event so please come and encourage the village’s young musicians. Tickets on the door £2.

COLLINGHAM JUBILEE PAGEANT
Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd June 2012
Friday and Saturday evening and Saturday Matinee

If you have not yet ordered your child's Pageant T shirt please do so as soon as possible.  Your Band or Choir member has been given an order form.

The Pageant has been written for us by ITN newsreader Duncan Wood based on the memories of local residents, and wider historic events. and we are delighted that he has agreed to narrate all three performances.   The Pageant is to be a 'Party in the Park'/Collingham does Proms type event, with covered staging, and outdoor picnicking.

The Community Choirs and Bands affiliated to the CMA and Collingham School Band and Choir have committed to the project. They will showcase music of different genres depicting each decade of the Queen’s reign and will be linked by a ‘book’ of each decade which will be presented to Duncan by Girl Guides in historic uniforms. The Sharon Ellis School of Dance will enhance the story with interpretive dance and tableaux. The Collingham Pre-school will take part in the afternoon performance.
