Solve problems involving doubling, halving and sharing
Over the next couple of weeks in mathematics we will be learning about doubling, halving and sharing. We will be talking about what doubling means (that double 1 means 1+1, double 2 means 2+2 etc) and what halving means and looking at the relationship between the two, for example 2+2=4 and half of 4 is 2. We will be supporting the children to learn double facts to 5 (5+5) without equipment and double facts to 10 using equipment (cubes, counters etc) We will be looking at how the answers to doubles go up in 2's and will be practising counting in 2's. We will also be looking at sharing objects into equal amounts. I have attached some sheets to work through at home. For sharing it is useful to do this practically so you could have a picnic and share the food into equal amounts. Please let us know how you get on!
