Homework

Singing

Please could you work with your child to continue to learn the lyrics to Silent Night in preparation for our performance on Monday 30th November. Your child needs to wear all black on Monday, please could you encourage your child to make a few stars for their outfit. We will attach the stars with safety pins. Four or five will be enough. Please feel free to make them from any materials that you have at home and decorate/ colour them in too! Thank you so much!

Times tables

It is really important that Year 3 pupils work on their multiplication facts (times tables) and spellings at home. All pupils will be quizzed every Wednesday. When working with your child, please remember that each fact must be learnt- it is not enough to recite the tables in order. Help your child by quizzing them regularly in different orders. When learning their multiples of five, you could ask them 5x5, 1x5, 3x5... as this is how they will be quizzed in class.

This week we will continue to focus on the 4 and 8 times tables. Both of these times tables will be included in the times table test next week.

Spellings

In our spelling lessons this week we will look at adding -ation to verbs to form nouns. However, number 7, 8, 9 and 10 are spellings from last weeks science lesson where we looked at the scientific names for bones.

1. information

2. limitation

3. sensation

4. admiration

5. preparation

6. adoration

7. humerus

8. cranium

9. radius

10. ulna

When working with your child to learn their spellings, try to practice them in different orders. As they will be quizzed in a random order in class on Wednesday.

Reading

Reading is fundamental. In fact, it is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Reading develops your brain, provides a window into the world around you and gives you a greater chance to succeed. It is paramount that you support your child by hearing them at least four times a week. Thank you!

Our book changing days are every Tuesday and Friday.
