We are Team Reception!
Hip hip hooray! We are so incredibly happy to have all our amazing children back in Reception class this week. It has been a joy and a privilege to see them all back together again, learning and playing, and simply being so happy to see each other. The children are settling back into our routines and we are super impressed with how hard they are trying with their learning and behaviour. We have talked about always playing nicely, sharing and being kind to each other – all really important skills to remember and master once back in a class full of children.
This week has been National Science Week, led by the theme ‘Innovation for the future’. Firstly, we looked at the story of Mabel and the Mountain, talking about how important it is to believe in our own abilities and the ‘big plans’ we might like to make, just like Mabel. Then we used the story of Izzy Gizmo to discuss what an invention is, how amazing Scientists and inventors are, and how important it is to keep going and test different things until you get it right. The children recalled and clearly understood some of our very important words from our RESPECT Code – perseverance and resilience. As part of their learning, the children have been inventors – creating new wings for the bird from the story of Izzy Gizmo and also creating ice gardens…more investigating with these next week!
Have a lovely weekend everyone. We think there might be some very tired children tomorrow!
