Please note we are not expecting children to do any homework over the Easter break, this is just if your child is showing an interest. They have worked incredibly hard again this term and definitely deserve a rest!
Personalised Sheets:
Please continue with the personalised sheets. This shows their next steps in learning, please could you work on your child's sheet. We find short bursts of time are the best way to do this. Please do not be alarmed if there are words on the sheet which your child can read or spell, some of the words are ones that your child was a bit more hesitant on when we are looking for it to be automatic. Flashcards are a good tool to support with this. If you have any questions about your child's sheet, please ask a member of the Year 1 team. Due in: All half term
Big Write:
For the first big write after Easter, we be retelling the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. If you have the story at home please could you read it and then sequence with your child after. If you do not have the story, I have attached a PowerPoint below. Year 1 will have the pictures available to them during the write. Please note we will also be discussing how the author could have changed the story, it might be a change in character or a change in ending. If you have time, please can you discuss this with our child. Due in: Wednesday 19th April
Phonics:
We have now learned all the Set 1, 2 and 3 sounds. Please keep using your yellow books to check if your child is confident with the sounds. We have also learned 11 sounds which are not in the RWI scheme. Please can you check your child is comfortable with the sounds (please see document section below). Also, over the last couple of weeks some parents have asked if there is any preparation they can do with their child to support with the phonics screen. In the document section below I have attached some examples of phonics screens and some alien words. Any practice of these will help with your child's preparation.
