Personalised Sheets:
Please continue with the personalised sheets. This shows their next steps in learning, please could you work on your child's sheet. We find short bursts of time are the best way to do this. Please do not be alarmed if there are words on the sheet which your child can read or spell, some of the words are ones that your child was a bit more hesitant on when we are looking for it to be automatic. Flashcards are a good tool to support with this. If you have any questions about your child's sheet, please ask a member of the Year 1 team. Due in: All half term
Big Write:
The Big Write next week will be on Tuesday 6th June due to Sports Day. Children will be retelling the story of Cinderella. Please can you read through the book with your child (I have attached sequence pictures if you do not have a book). When looking through the story please can you look at interesting language that is used and ways to start sentences. Please can you also look at words with -ed endings. Children will have a word mat available to them during the write and sequencing pictures. Due in: Tuesday 6th June
Phonics:
You should have received an email this week about the phonics screen which will take place the week commencing 12th June. Any practice of this before the screen would be appreciated. In class the structure we have been doing is:
Maths:
Our focus this half term will be all the basic skills we need to know in Year 1. Any support with the following at home would be useful...
Numbers bonds to 10 and 20
Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s forwards and backwards
One more/less to 100
Doubles (to 12) and halves (to 24)
This is best done verbally and in short bursts. If your child needs something in front of them to support with the above like a number line or 100 square then this is absolutely fine. Due in: All half term
NumBots:
If you have not already logged onto NumBots please could you activate your child's account (any problems with this please let a member of the Y1 team know). If your child has time please could they click on challenges, then onto the number bonds section and then scroll down to number bonds to 10. Please could they play this game (ideally for 3 minutes 4-5 times a week). We have been doing number bonds to 10 during our fluency sessions alongside the 1 more/less.
PLEASE NOTE - In order to access the challenges, your child has to complete 26 levels on story mode. Please work through this until you can access challenge mode. The first levels on story mode assess subitising. You can still access story mode even when you unlock challenge mode.
PLEASE NOTE PART 2: We will be continue to hand out certificates for people who pass each level on story mode. We will hand out the next certificates on Wednesday 7th June. Due in: Wednesday 7th June

Phonics:
We have now learned all the Set 1, 2 and 3 sounds. Please keep using your yellow books to check if your child is confident with the sounds. We have also learned 11 sounds which are not in the RWI scheme. Please can you check your child is comfortable with the sounds. Also, over the last couple of weeks some parents have asked if there is any preparation they can do with their child to support with the phonics screen (please see document section below from last week). Any practice of these will help with your child's preparation. The children are doing really well with the preparation for this during class. Each day we are looking at alien words, looking at words from Set 1, 2 and 3 as well as doing mock phonic screens. Due in: Monday June 12th
