What a brilliant first week back we have had! The children have come back ready to hit the ground running and pick up right where they left off. It has been lovely to see their smiley faces and hear what they have been up to over half term.
The children really enjoyed sharing all the exciting things they got up to over half term during their 'Big Write' this week. We have been blown away by how hard the children are trying to include all the new skills that we have taught such as adjectives, question marks and exclamation marks. We are continuing to develop their beautiful cursive script and their ability to apply their phonic sounds when spelling.
In maths the children have enjoyed describing turns, position and direction. The children used the key vocabulary (above, below, left, right, forwards, backwards) to describe the position of superheroes in relation to each other and then to give directions to guide the superhero to the city. We were really impressed by how well the children worked with their partners during this activity - they really listened to each other and showed great team-work skills. Great work year 1! You can see some pictures of them in action below.
The children really enjoyed their first visit to the ICT suite for a while (due to covid) this week. The children learnt what a computer is and the different parts (hardware) that make it up. The children listened really carefully and followed instructions well to turn on and log on to their computers independently. The children then used drawing software to create a superhero picture.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the lovely weather that is forecast.
