Wow, wow, wow! What a fantastic first week we have had in year 1! It has been a pleasure to get to know the children and they have blown us away with how quickly they are settling into life in year 1.
There have been a few big (but lovely) changes for the children this week with a return to a more 'normal' school-life and routine. The children have enjoyed playing with other classes at play-time, taking part in whole-school assemblies and eating their lunch in the hall. It has been so lovely to see the children take part in these activities and they have coped with all the changes INCREDIBLY well and taken them all in their stride. You should be extremely proud of them.
This week the children have enjoyed exploring their new classroom and all the different areas of provision. The Toy Shop, Creation Station and Construction area have all proved very popular! You can see some photos below of the children choosing their own learning in these areas – I am sure you will agree that they have been very busy learners!
We have focussed on our Christian values and RESPECT Code this week. We have read lots of stories focussing on different Christian values and thought about ways in which the children can show these in our school. Some of the children also drew their own pictures to show these ideas in their own learning time – what superstars they are!
The children became detectives and used the clues to work out that in our first topic we will be Toy Time Travellers and will learn all about old and new toys. We read ‘Dogger’ and the children wrote all about their favourite toys. We were very impressed by their positive attitudes and how focussed they were during their writing and loved hearing all about their favourite toys.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
