The children have come back ready and raring to go for our final half-term together in year 1!
We have just begun our history topic on 'The Great Fire of London' and the children have already really engaged with it - some have even been choosing to continue their learning around it in their provision time! The children began by looking at what London is like now and found out about some famous London landmarks. They then used pastels in art to create a picture of a colourful London skyline. Then the children worked as historians to use the evidence to find out what London was like in the past (1666) and compare similarities and differences.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a music session with Mrs Meek on Friday afternoon. They began by learning the song 'London's Burning' and then practised their singing skills by singing it as a round. The children then used the xylophones to develop their rhythm and timing skills - Mrs Meek was very impressed!
Just a reminder that next week is 'initiative' week and that the children need to come in their PE kit for their den building session.
