Week 1

This week has been inter-faith week in school and in year 1 we have been focussing on the religion of Hinduism. The children have really enjoyed learning about a different religion. Here are some of the things that we learnt.

We learnt about the Hindu place of worship - a Mandir. The children worked together to create a model of the inside and outside of a Mandir - they tried hard to include all the features they had learnt about. On Friday, we went to visit 'Faith Street' in the hall where we got to see all the other religious buildings that each class had created.

In maths, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. On Friday the children enjoyed a practical lesson where they used shapes to create their own repeating patterns. The children could confidently describe their patterns and the shapes they had used.
