Week 1

Week 1

Hello year 3,

Even though you are not at school at the moment, we know you do not want to miss out on any learning! That is why we have made sure you will carry on with your learning, even though you are at home. I hope that you are all well - that you remain safe and healthy during this challenging time.

White Rose Maths: This is the scheme we base our maths learning on. They are producing online materials including instructional videos that you can access from home. We are currently learning about fractions.

Sumdog - Complete the activities allocated on there.

Purple Mash - 2do: Unit Fractions On A Number Line 1 & 2

Following on from the children’s fantastic instructional writing on How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth I would like you to write a non-chronological report on Woolly Mammoths. You could discuss and research what would go in to a non-chronological report (Habitat, diet, size etc.) Then using the 2Do task which I have set on Purple Mash you can then produce your report. Make sure you include lots of the Year 3 writing objectives such as fronted adverbials, subheadings, paragraphs and conjunctions.

History/ Topic

This term your homework is linked to our Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age (Pre-historic Britain) topic. We hope you will enjoy completing the

30 Day Lego Challenge!

On the Home Learning Hub you will find a copy of the 30 Day Lego Challenge. Have a go and email us some photos of your own creations!

I welcome feedback on how you and your child find learning from home over the coming days and weeks and I also encourage you and your children to send photos of any learning they have done. My school email is: I will try to reply to emails as quickly as possible.

This whole situation is new to all of us, and government advice and guidance changes daily.  It will take us all some time to adjust to this new system of living and learning.  Please understand that I am also trying to figure things out and settle into this new routine as well.  In the meantime, try to enjoy this extra time that you have with your children!

Thank you for your hard work and continuous support in these uncertain times.

*** Update ***

Good morning Year 3,

First of all, I want to say a massive WELL DONE and THANK YOU! Even though we haven’t been together I have loved seeing what you have been up to through the year 3 email ( ) and through all the work you have completed on Sumdog, Purple Mash and Classroom Secrets Kids. I hope you are all keeping safe and well and have managed to enjoy the sunshine and not spend too much time in front of the computer.

To finish the week, I thought it would be fun to have a quiz on the weeks learning and some questions from previous weeks learning to see what we have transferred to our long term memory. You can submit your answers by email and house points will be awarded. I hope you have a lovely weekend and I will update our class web page with next week’s learning for Tuesday, 31st March.

All the best and stay safe,
