Week 1

Over the past few weeks, we've discussed how you would be writing piece of work about whatever you wanted. Now, I'd like you to go ahead and do it! Think about whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction and which of the planning formats we've used this year would be the best one to use for your piece of writing. Remember, you're still in Year 5 so it should include the expectations for Year 5 writing. Then, when you've properly planned it our, you should start  to write it. Take your time, there is no need to rush it. Try to ace yourself like we do in school; a couple of paragraphs per day and check and edit your work constantly. Once your work is finished, please type it up and send it to me so I can see the wonderful writing that you've produced. There's no fixed deadline for this, but do make sure that you produce something.

Please ensure that you continue to read every day. Aim to spend 30 minutes reading. If you're stuck for ideas of what to read, I've added 28 books recommended for children in Year 5 further down the page.

There are plenty of activities for you to complete on Sumdog (and I see lots of you have already been on there). Please continue with these.

Additionally, please complete the arithmetic questions at

Complete the spelling work on Sumdog.

Complete the daily PE sessions found on the YouTube playlist below

Draw a landscape. Don't worry if you don't have all of the materials in the video- just use what you have at home.

As you know, your next learning log was a make or do activity related to the country you chose for your research. Go ahead and complete this and be sure to share photos/videos/comments on what you make

This week's top task: Bake Something!

Again, send me some photos (and maybe a recipe) of what you make.
