Week 2

What an incredible initiative week we have had in year 1!The children thoroughly enjoyed their den building session at the beginning of the week and you can see some photos of this below. The children also enjoyed an activity where they had to come up with solutions to help the gingerbread man cross the river. We were so impressed by the creativity of their ideas - they were definitely good at thinking outside the box!

The children continued to develop their drawing skills in art by using charcoal to create pictures of London houses in 1666. The children spent some time getting used to using charcoal and the different effects that they could create with it before creating their finished pictures. We were amazed at the quality of their work and we have had lots of compliments on them from other members of staff visiting our classroom!

The children have continued to be really engaged with our topic on  'The Great Fire of London' and have worked as history detectives to find clues and use them to come up with their own hypothesis about how the fire started. We then watched a video and the children compared their versions with what historians think actually happened!

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine! Just a reminder that next week is assessment week!
