It has been another busy week in year 1! The fantastic learning keeps coming!
In maths, we have started our new unit on multiplication and division. The children have coped brilliantly with this even though it is the first time many of them have encountered these concepts! Any work that you can do at home on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s would be greatly appreciated and will really benefit your child during this unit.
We started our new geography topic this week and the children began to look at the countries that make up the United Kingdom. The children really enjoyed looking at maps so we added some atlases to our provision areas. These have been a huge hit and the children have been busy researching and then making flags for different countries around the world.
In Science, we learnt about different parts of the human body. The children blew me away with how many different body parts they could name and we had some fantastic scientific discussions. The children worked in groups to draw around one of their friends in chalk and then added labels to name the parts. We have also added a human body in our provision too which the children have enjoyed labelling and drawing body parts on.
On Friday afternoon, the children continued their 'Starry Night' pictures with Mrs Crabtree. The children have really enjoyed doing this art-work and have been working with such care and control. I will share some photos of their finished pieces once they are complete!
