Week 4

We are well and truly into the swing of things now this half term and it has certainly been another jam-packed week!

In phonics, we have been continuing with our set 3 sounds and have introduced the split digraphs or 'chatty friends' this week (a_e, i_e,  o_e and u_e) . These are really tricky sounds but the children have blown us away with how well they have picked them up! In our grammar session this week we moved on to looking at adding the -ing suffix to words. The children enjoyed a practical activity where their partner chose a word card to act out. Then they had to guess the action and write it using the -ing suffix to show that it is happening now. You can see a couple of photos of this below.

In PE on Friday, the children developed their balancing skills. They explored different types of balances and put some of these into a short routine with a partner. Mrs Hesketh was amazed by how hard the children tried to hold and control their balances. There were lots of lovely pointy toes and fingers! You can see some photos of this below.

After our delicious food tasting last week, the children moved on to designing their fruit kebabs in DT this week. We thought really carefully about our design criteria and the children could give clear explanations of their designs. I think you are all in for a treat at our parent event as all of their designs look delicious! We are still hoping that our parent event can go ahead as planned. However, Mr Cook is going to make a final decision in the coming weeks based on the Covid situation in school. We will let you know as soon as possible.

Have a lovely weekend!
