Week 4

This week, in maths, we have been learning to tell the time to the nearest half hour. We made the most of the beautiful sunshine and took our learning outdoors to complete a time hunt. The children found the clocks hidden around the playground and recorded the time they showed.

We began making our bird sculptures in art this week. We discussed that it takes great perseverance to be a sculptor as things don’t always work out as we had planned. The children thought about how they could get their sculpture to stand up by creating a secure base and how they could create texture for the feathers.

We had a visit from Catherine from ‘History to Life’ this week who delivered a brilliant workshop on the Great Fire of London. The children explored artefacts from the time and worked as historians to work out what they might have been used for. The children also enjoyed having a go at writing using quills and ink.
