  • Farewell year 6...

    Fri 22 Jul 2016

This year has been a challenging time for all schools – and within that it has been a particularly challenging time for year sixes; it  has been a time of rapid change, a time of raised standards and raised expectations.  Our year 6 children have risen to the challenge of the new year curriculum and assessment frameworks in ways we had never imagined they would.

The current year 6 are class of children who, collectively, have epitomized the year 6 role model.  That is, they have been absolutely everything we could or would wish a year 6 class would be. We are so incredibly proud year 6's positive attitudes, perseverance, resilience, determination, and with the courage and teamwork they have shown throughout the year.

I would also like to thank all the adults in school who have supported these children on their journey so far, and particularly to Miss Hicks and Mrs Myers for their unerring commitment to year 6  through a demanding year.

As year 6 move to their next stage in life, I believe it is the traits that have shone out from them so clearly this year that will lead them to success in their futures.  Their characteristics of learning, their understanding about the importance of courage and perseverance,  and also their ability to bring joy, friendship and kindness along the way; these are also the things that our world needs now and I feel optimistic to think of our wonderful young people becoming adults and taking their part in shaping our future.

All the best year 6 - from everyone in school.

As the school office staff will also be in attendance at the assembly, the school office will be closed between: 1.45  – 2.30p.m.

Due to compliance with fire regulations, space in the hall is limited. Whilst we hope to make this assembly open to all  parents who wish to attend, we will have to close the hall once we reach capacity.

  • HOUSE CAPTAINS' MINI LEGO DIORAMAS

    Thu 14 Jul 2016

During the Lego Learning days the house captains have been leading small groups of children in creating mini Lego dioramas depicting aspects of the RESPECT code.  The first morning was spent exploring Equality.

The inspiration for this project came from the miniature photography work of Tanaka Tatsuya - you can find lots of great examples of Tanaka Tatsuya's  work using a safe search on google/pinterest.

See The Gallery section for some photographs of the House Captain's work.

  • LEGO LEARNING!!!

    Thu 14 Jul 2016

The Lego learning days have got off to an amazing start this morning - Lakes have been the first house to build a Lego city in the hall and photographs will follow soon...

The Lego Learning days are all about developing key aspects of the RESPECT code and the Personal Development Goals.  Children are having an absolutely wonderful time with the Lego and are enjoying the joy and creativity of 'building without instructions'.  Whilst doing this they are also developing problems solving skills and reflecting on perseverance, and resilience.

The other 3 houses have also been working on Lego Learning themed activities which are designed to deepen their understanding of the "Equality", "Working Together" and "Relationships" aspects of the RESPECT code.
