  • Letter from Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP (Minister of State for Schools Standards)

Sun 25 Feb 2018 Mr Cook

Last week, we received a letter of congratulations from Nick Gibb MP in recognition of the school's high attainment for mathematics in the 2017 National Curriculum Tests. Well done to all the pupils and staff in school!

Dear Collingham Lady Elizabeth Hastings' Church of England Primary School,

I would like to congratulate your staff and your pupils on your school's very high standard of achievement in mathematics in the 2017 Key Stage 2 assessments.

Your school's results, as published on 14 December, show that 100% of your pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard in mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2. This means that your school is in the top 1% of primary schools in England for attainment in mathematics.

We want to ensure that every child has the necessary fluency in mathematics to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this to all your pupils.

Thank you for your hard work and professionalism in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.

    With best wishes.

    Yours sincerely,

    Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP

(Minister of State for School Standards)

  • Congratulations to RIVERS!

    Thu 19 Oct 2017

Congratulations to this half-term's winning house: RIVERS.

RIVERS have accumulated a grand total of 2494 house points for following the RESPECT code, putting maximum effort in to all they do and displaying acts of kindness around school.

I have been really impressed with the efforts of all the children and there was not that much in it between all the houses. Well done everyone! You are fantastic role models!

I must give special thanks to our amazing house captains who give up a lunchtime every Thursday to count up the house points in each class. They do a fantastic job and I am really grateful for all their hard work. I have loved working with you all over the past 6 weeks!

  • FABULOUS FEEDBACK FROM EPOS ROCK BAND!

    Wed 24 May 2017

EPOS MUSIC INSPIRATION PROGRAMME - KS2 ROCK BAND DAY AT WETHERBY HIGH SCHOOL

Pupils from Wetherby St. James’ CE Primary School, Primrose Lane Primary - Boston Spa and Collingham Lady Elizabeth Hasting Primary School spent the day at Wetherby High School on Thursday 11th May learning how to be rock stars! The day was funded by the music education hub for Leeds – the Leeds Music Education Partnership and staff from ArtForms and Wetherby Music Centre worked with the children to develop their musical skills.

The children spent a busy day learning how to play chords patterns on keyboards and guitars before playing a selection of current and classic rock and pop songs designed to put them through their instrumental paces. They also had a go at beat-boxing, but chair-drumming was firm favourite and featured as the opening item in the Showcase for parents and carers! Alongside chair-drumming, the children also performed medleys by the Black Eyed Peas and Bruno Mars before finishing the performance with a fabulous acoustic version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It off’. Everyone had a fantastic time performing together as Leeds’ biggest primary School Rock Band and everyone learned some new musical skills in the process. Children and their parents were then invited to the open day at Wetherby Music Centre – which takes place at Wetherby High School - on Saturday 13th May to see the musical activities on offer.

  • CHOIR SING AT SHEFFIELD ARENA

    Thu 12 Jan 2017

Wow, wow, Wow!! Mrs Soutby, Mrs Meek, Mr Farnell, Mr Elliot and I took choir to Sheffield Arena to perform as part of a choir of 5123 children in the Young Voices concert this week. Young Voices combines the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, to create an amazing performance. Nothing can prepare you for the sound of thousands of children singing in harmony; it certainly was an unforgettable event for all the right reasons – high energy, high quality, entertaining and lots of fun.

Every year, schools across the country practise the Young Voices music in school to prepare themselves to take part in these massive concerts. With a full live band, backing singers and the internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence, it makes for a most exciting and truly memorable musical experience.

Our children rose BRILLIANTLY to the significant challenge of learning the many, many words to the songs in the Young Voices 2017 programme – choir’s commitment and hard work toward this project and towards their singing in general this year been superb. At the same time as preparing for Young Voices, choir were also learning additional song words to contribute so beautifully to our school Christmas performances, AND to sing at Harewood on Christmas eve. (See school website for a wonderful letter of thanks, and congratulations to the choir, from Cllr Ryan Stephenson, for their Christmas eve performance).

A HUGE THANK YOU TO MRS SOUTHBY, MRS MEEK AND MR FARNELL WHO HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY WITH THE CHOIR SINCE SEPTEMBER IN PREPARATION FOR THIS SPECTACULAR EVENING; we are incredibly grateful for their time, energy, hard work and commitment.

  • Congratulations to our School Choir from Cllr Ryan Stephenson
