Week 2
This week, in maths, we have been recognising, naming and sorting 2D and 3D shapes. The children played a game of 'Guess My Shape' with a partner and we were so impressed with the vocabulary that they were using.
Max - My shape has 4 sides and they are all the same ( diamond).
Hattie - My shape has one curved side (circle).
Isabelle - My shape has 1 curved side and 1 straight one ( semi-circle)
In art, we took inspiration from the artist Molly Haslund who uses the ground as a drawing surface. We experimented with using our whole bodies to create spiral shapes on the playground. The children noticed how Molly Haslund had over-lapped some of her shapes in her artwork and some children decided to try this with their spirals too.
