Week 4
This week, we had a Health & Hygiene workshop from the School Wellbeing Service. The children were impeccably behaved and learnt how thorough hand-washing can stop us from getting poorly. They enjoyed conducting an experiment to explore how using soap can help remove microbes from our hands.
We have had some amazing artists in year 1 this week! The children thought about how they could apply the mark-making and spiral shapes that we have learnt so far to support them with observational drawings of shells. The children were so focussed and really observed closely. We are so proud of how hard everyone tried 😄.
In maths, we have been exploring place value in numbers to 20. The children enjoyed a practical lesson where they chose a number card and found different ways to represent their number.
“ My number is 15. It has 1 ten and 5 ones.”
”I have made the ten but with a 4 and a 6.”
” I have got ten straws and then 4 little straws. It is 14.”
