Week 2
The children are really enjoying our new DT project this half term. Our design brief is to make a page from a moving picture book. The children began by exploring mechanisms ( sliders, wheels and levers) and the different movements that they make. First, we explored some existing products in small groups and the children identified the different mechanisms that were used.
This week the children practised the skills that they will need to make a slider mechanism. They worked on their cutting, colouring and hole punching skills. They reflected on their prototype and thought about what changes they might need to make next time so their mechanism moves smoothly.
