Spellings
I will add the spellings to this section each week. The spellings will be practised daily in the lesson with me and I would ask you to practise daily at home. Short daily bursts are far more effective than cramming and are more likely to commit the words to long term memory. Many thanks for your help - I do understand how difficult this can be!

A top tip – There is an audio option which means that children can follow the text whilst the story is being read to them. This can be really useful as the children can see and hear the words at the same time helping to secure High Frequency words in long term memory. If you use this option, choose an easier text so that your child can follow it at the required pace.
Touch-typing
As it might be possible for the groups to access some regular ICT time when we return to school, please try to practise touch-typing. If you use coloured paper in school, remember that you can change your page background colour. Using Word, click on Design, click on Page Colour and select your colour. Hello everybody. I hope you all had a lovely time last week in the sunshine. I know lots of children in Year 1 couldn’t wait to get home on Thursday to play in their paddling pools!
Squirrel update – they seem to have gone! Mr Questa is delighted – we have only had one worrying incident with a very persistent squirrel but it eventually became bored and went away!
Plenty of activities for you this week so no fussing and off you go!

Good Morning everybody!
I hope everybody is well. The only exciting news from my house is that we have a new squirrel proof birdfeeder. Mr Questa is very excited and can’t wait to see if it keeps those pesky squirrels away! Last week, I actually discovered Mr Questa putting butter on the birdfeeder pole so that the squirrels would slide down it! Anyway it didn’t work (it was very funny though!) so now a huge box has arrived with a new feeder. I will keep you updated!
I am really sorry that the Twinkl log in did not work last week but the offer of free access for home learning has now been withdrawn.
Anyway, still plenty to do so quick sticks and let’s go! No fussing!

Good morning everybody!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week. I’ve had to spend a lot of time this week watering the plants which have just been planted in the garden – has anybody been in a paddling pool yet? Just a few more days and you will all be on holiday for the week. You lucky things! Mr Elliot and I are in school next week – I wonder if he will be bringing in his big paintbrushes?
Well done to everybody for completing their tasks. I am so excited about all the reading you have been doing!

Good morning everybody!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week – lots of playing as well as lots of hard work.
Well done to everybody for completing their tasks.
I did see something that you all might enjoy – if you google Pizza Express Piccolo Kids Corner, there are some fun educational activities (even fractions!!) and some craft ideas.
Again, the activities for the end of the week will be very familiar by now and are set out below.
Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Please read, read, read, read! This helps your accuracy, your fluency and your comprehension.
Years 1 and 2
Remember your handwriting is very important – it helps me to read your wonderful work!
So please practise.
Years 3, 4 and 5
Use your 200 High Frequency Words sheet in your pack, helping to transfer the words into your long term memory as well as to practise your writing.
Also, practise your touch-typing. Use BBC Dancemat on the internet and have some fun!
Please remember you can always email me if you need any help or to show me your work.
Have a lovely day today and weekend with your families. We’re having cream scones in the garden to celebrate VE Day! I’ve even made tiny flags for the tops!

Week commencing 4th May 2020
Good morning everybody.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and spent plenty of time playing outside. Last week, I was very busy in school with Mr Elliot. He decided it would be a really good idea to paint the sun shelter and so he bought me a big brush and an even bigger tub of paint. I found out that Mr Elliot was a very messy painter and I am still struggling to remove some of the paint from my hair!
Here are your activities for this week. Remember – quick sticks and no fussing!

Good morning everybody!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week – lots of playing as well as lots of hard work.
Well done to everybody for completing their work. I've enjoyed seeing your photos!
I am keeping to the same format as at the end of last week just to keep matters simple and not to cause additional stress!
Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Please read, read, read, read! This helps your accuracy, your fluency and your comprehension. Please read to a parent and make sure they ask you questions about what you have read – remember you might have to read something a couple of times before you completely understand it but that’s fine because adults need to do that too!
Years 1 and 2
Remember your handwriting is very important – it helps me to read your wonderful work!
So, please practise. Remember all the descenders – f, g, j, p, q, y are below the line and the ascenders – b, d, f, h, k, l, t are tall. Use the handwriting sheets in your pack to help you.
Years 3, 4 and 5
Use your 200 High Frequency Words sheet in your pack, helping to transfer the words into your long term memory as well as to practise your writing.
Also, practise your touch-typing. This is a skill which will always be useful even when you’re an adult! Use BBC Dancemat on the internet and have some fun! Once you are proficient – that means being really good at something– there are times when you will be able use touch typing in school during lessons.
Please remember you can always email me if you need any help or to show me your work.
Have a lovely weekend with your families.

Good Morning everybody!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunny weather. Sad news from Mrs Questa’s house – all the Easter eggs have been eaten!
I know you are all working extremely hard so a massive well done! Here are your new activities. Please also practise your Speed Sounds with your chart (in your pack). If you do this daily, these sounds will be in your long-term memory helping you with your reading and your spelling.
Remember to do these activities without a fuss and then have some fun!

Good morning everybody!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week – lots of playing as well as lots of hard work.
I know you will be very busy with work from me as well as with work from your teachers so I think I will make all Friday work a bit simpler (phew from your parents!).
Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Please read, read, read, read! This is really helpful because it improves your accuracy, your fluency and your comprehension. Please read to a parent and make sure they ask you questions about what you have read – remember you might have to read something a couple of times before you completely understand it but that’s fine because adults need to do that too!
Years 1 and 2
I would also like you to practise your handwriting. Remember all the descenders – f, g, j, p, q, y are below the line and the ascenders – b, d, f, h, k, l, t are tall. Use the handwriting sheets in your pack to help you. If this lovely weather continues, you could then practise outside with a paintbrush and water.
Years 3, 4 and 5

Good Morning Mrs Questa’s Groups!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the sunny weather with plenty of playing out. Did you have plenty of Easter eggs? Easter Bunny left all his spare ones at Morrisons and I enjoyed several of those!
These are the activities for this week. Remember to practise, practise, practise! Remember our main aim is to put everything into long term memory.

Disclaimer to the parents from Mrs Questa!
We’re all on a learning journey – I always thought teaching in a school without children would be the dream – how wrong I was! I hope I have managed to upskill my computer knowledge – any mistakes, please be patient!! I’ll check in with you all on Friday.
Thank you.
