We have been busy exploring a variety of fruits this week in DT. The children thought about the following questions:
Does it have a skin?
Does it have to be peeled?
What is the flesh like?
Does it have seeds?
What is the texture like?
What does it taste like?
“ The melon is crunchy on the outside but soft in the inside.”
“ The banana is squashy.”
“This is juicy.”
“The mango has a stone.”
In History, the children used extracts from Florence Nightingale’s diary to explore why she might have put herself in danger to go and help nurse British soldiers injured in the Crimean War. The children enjoyed putting themselves In the role of Florence and exploring this through drama.
