Week 2

Wow! What a busy week of learning we have had in year 1!

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday with lots of book-related activities. The children had a great time completing the character hunt around school and creating our very own story during our circle game of ‘pass the story’. The children also created their own clues to describe different story characters. The answers were then revealed by lifting the flap! Read some of their super clues below - can you guess the story character?

We continued our printing journey in Art this week by learning how to take rubbings from textured objects. The children hunted for textured objects both in the classroom and outside. They experimented with the amount of pressure needed to create a clear rubbing and also tried using both drawing pencils and wax crayons.

In maths, we focussed on describing multiples of ten ( up to 50) using the following stem sentences:

My number is....

It has ..... tens.

It has .... ones.

The children then used concrete resources to represent these numbers in different ways.
