What a busy week we have had in year 1!
In Geography, the children have been learning about the United Kingdom and naming and locating the countries that are in it. They have enjoyed listening to some very catchy songs and playing games to help these stick in their long term memory.
In History, the children thought about their own past and how they have changed since they were a baby.
Madeleine - "When I was a baby, I couldn't talk but now I can."
Lucy - "When I was a baby I couldn't sit up on my own but now I can."
Leo - "When I was a baby, I couldn't walk but now I can walk and run and jump."
The children thought about the toys they played with at different stages of their life and how these had changed.
" When I was a baby I couldn't walk so I had to go in a pram but now I can go on a bike."
"When I was a baby I had squishy blocks that were soft. Then I had big duplo and now I can play with lego."
"When I was little I could just shake a rattle but now my fingers are better so I can push the keys on a keyboard to make noises."
In DT, the children began to think about our design brief which is: To design and make an animal puppet to use in a puppet show for the children in reception. We thought about how new products don't just get made but go through a design process. We began by evaluating and exploring a selection of puppets to give us ideas for our designs.
