Phonics
We have now learned the majority of sounds we will do in Y1. After May half term all Y1 children will be completing the phonic screen check. Each week I will attach a past paper for you to practice at home. Please see the document section for this weeks paper. Please speak to a member of the Y1 team if you have any questions about this. The pass mark for the last few years has been 32/40. COMPLETION DATE: Ongoing
Big Write
For the Big Write on Wednesday 19th March Year 1 will be writing their own story. Year 1 will have the opportunity to show off their creativity with this task. After doing a few weeks of retells we thought this would be a good opportunity for them to practice what they have learned without following a set sequence of pictures. Y1 will get to draw a picture first to illustrate their story and then write underneath. Please can you discuss some ideas with them, they seem to have some interesting ones already!

ARITHMETIC - This half term we can are going to have a real focus on arithmetic (especially missing number questions). In the documents section I have added a sheet for your child to practice. They can have a numberline with them to complete the sheet if it is helpful. Please can your child have a go independently and then you can see where they may need more help. Please talk to a member of the Y1 team if you have any questions about this.

We will read the story as a class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please can you read or watch the story with your child and see if they sequence the key events after reading. NUMBOTS CHALLENGE MODE - On Challenge Mode please can you go onto the Number Bond section and complete the Number bonds to 5, 10, 20. I can access the data/results on my computer for this and want to see if the speed is increasing from when we previously did this.
