Week 1
This week, in Science, we began our new topic on animals. We learnt that scientists sort animals into 5 groups based on their common features. We began by focussing on birds. This is what we learnt about birds:
Darcy - "Birds lay eggs in a nest."
Shivani - "Birds have lungs to breathe."
Austin - "Birds have wings but they can't all fly."
Edie " Birds have feathers."
Orla - "Birds have a beak."
We went on a walk around school to find and identify a variety of birds. The children completed a tally chart to record the birds that they had seen.
"We saw lots of wood pigeons."
"We saw lots of crows."
"There were lots of small birds in the bush."
What super bird spotting year 1!
