On Wednesday, the children really enjoyed taking part in a music workshop led by 'The Plumber Drummer'. We were really impressed by how carefully the children listened to the rhythms and how confidently they played them back. Well done year 1 - we think we have some budding musicians!
This half term we will be completing our drawing pathway in Art which is focussed around spirals. This week, the children learnt what drawing is and investigated the different tools that artists might use to draw with. We explored the work of Molly Hasland and discovered that artists don't always draw with paper and pencils!
We enjoyed experimenting with different tools (such as pencils, pens and charcoal) to make spiral shapes. We made loud spirals, quiet spirals, angry spirals and tight spirals and investigated what happens when we apply different pressures to our drawing tools.
Austin - " I didn't like using the charcoal because it was scratchy."
Arlo - " I liked the pens because they were smooth."
Lucy - "I noticed that when you press light you can hardly see the spiral."
