Wonderful World Book Day!
The children had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday - we loved seeing all of their fabulous costumes! In addition to dressing up, we also completed lots of activities to promote and celebrate a love of reading. These included:
- A special book-themed game of 'Headbandz' where the children had to ask yes/no questions to guess the book character that was on their headband.
- Discovering a mystery envelope and using the clues inside to guess the mystery character that it belonged to.
- Writing our own clues to describe a book character for a 'who am I?' game.
- Having a class vote ( linked to the British value of democracy) to decide which story to read at points through the day.
- Completing the character hunt around school.
In Art, we enjoyed our first (and very messy!!) lesson on printing. The children thought about how they could use their bodies as a printing ‘plate’. They discussed whether they wanted to:
- use all the primary colours or just certain ones.
- make a repeating pattern.
- vary the position of their hands
- overlap the prints
