Marine Conservation Day
We began our learning by thinking about why the ocean is important to us.
Otto - It is a home for lots of creatures and some are endangered.
Shivani - We need it for the water to drink and use.
Darcy - We need it to catch fish to eat.
Otto - Polar bears and birds catch fish from the sea to eat too.
We looked at some images to see if we could discover a problem that was facing marine animals.
Darcy - There is lots of rubbish and the animals are getting trapped in it or might eat it.
The children thought about different ways that we can help reduce marine litter and made some posters to encourage people to:
Science
Our new topic is all about plants! The children demonstrated super team-work skills this week to plant their own Broad Bean seeds. The children are excited to observe how these grow and change over time and even made predictions about which part of the plant might grow first.
DT
Our new DT project is to design and make a page from a moving book. The children learnt what a mechanism is and then explored a variety of moving-picture books to see if they could find 3 different types of mechanisms: sliders, levers and wheels. They are very excited to begin designing their own moving page to re-tell part of The Gingerbread Man Story!
